Investing Or Trading
Many people confuse the terms investing and trading. They don’t have the same meaning, despite the fact that they both entail making a profit.
When you invest i.e. in a gold trade fund or the currency market, you hold your underlying assets for a long period of time in hopes that it will increase in value. Many of the aforementioned funds are kept by investors for many years. Note that there are different ways to invest in Forex.
Trading also entails that you invest money. However, the returns come faster. It usually takes minutes, hours, weeks or months to obtain gains. In the Forex, you can adopt any style you like. If you want to minimize your exposure by ensuring your money is not in peril, you can learn to trade as a scalper. This means that you go after a few pips in a minimal amount of time. Swing traders stay in the market a tad longer, perhaps a few hours. Day traders are out of their positions within the same day. However, note that in Forex, a number of traders opt for position trading as they like to hold on to a currency pair for a long frame of time.
If you’re wondering why it’s important to know the difference, note that as you set to file your income tax return, you have to declare whether you supplement your income trading Forex or it’s an investment. Thus, you should know which category you belong to.
